How To Adjust Apple Watch Link Bands

Adjusting a link Apple Watch band to fit you can seem like a daunting task if you aren’t sure how to do it. Actually this process is quite simple, but if you are not comfortable doing it yourself, you can always take your Apple Watch band into a local jeweler or watch store and they should be able to make the adjustments quickly.

All of our link Apple Watch bands (Stainless Steel, Natural Wood and Ceramic) comes with a link adjustment tool that you can use to do it yourself. In this blog, we'll use the Stainless Steel Link band to demonstrate.

The first thing you will want to do before you start to remove the links is to look on the back of the Apple Watch band. You will notice on the back side of the band, there are arrows on both sides of the clasp pointing in different directions. These arrows are important because they tell you which way you should push the pins out of the band. If you look at the sides of the band, you will notice that one side has the pins flush, meaning that the pins are lined up perfectly with the band. You cannot push the pin out from this side, and trying to do so will scratch the Apple Watch band!

Instead, flip your band over to the other side and you will notice that there is an indentation where the tool fits nicely; this side corresponds with what the arrows are telling you to do. The wood Apple Watch bands do not have arrows to let you know which is the right side to start from, however it is the same idea.

Once you have removed the necessary links, reassemble the band by lining up the link and the pin and push against a flat surface to secure the links together. For the Metal Apple Watch band, you may need to use your small rubberized hammer again to softly tap the pin back into place. And voila! Your Apple Watch band is now put back together and will fit on your wrist nicely.

If you don’t feel comfortable doing this yourself, you can always take your Apple Watch band to a watch shop or jeweler and ask them to adjust the band to fit.
